The Strike zone is one of the most debated topics in baseball, especially in Little League. We'd like to set expectations for umpires, coaches, players, and spectators on this very topic in Cedar Mill Little League. It is the league's goal to develop batters, giving them a slightly larger strike zone than higher level play. Of course, this is determined by the umpire and takes experience to get "dialed in," so to speak.

Little League International defines the strike zone as over the plate and between the knees and the batters armpits. This zone is calculated by the batters stance when the swing begins, not just standing in the batter box.

AAA

In the AAA division, the strike zone would be the largest and should be comparable to the image on the right, aligned with the 10u vertical and horizontal lines. This allows for one full ball outside of where the lace of a ball touching the edge of the plate. See the image for details.

Majors and Minors

In the Minors and Majors divisions, the strike zone should align with the 12u zone in the image. This zone does not include the extra ball outside the horizontal line and extends the top of the vertical zone. See the image for details.
